As the New Year begins...gardening in January

There has been a real growing interest in Terrariums recently. What's so fantastic is you can tend a garden any time of year, it can be complex or simple, exotic, sophisticated or whimsical, in any kind of container imaginable! I think this is such a fabulous idea, which comes at a time when I am having withdrawals from the plants, up until now, I have been playing and doing a lot of creating with. I harvest all kinds of things at the end of the summer, then comes fall with arrangements to be made for Halloween and Thanksgiving and then there are the Christmas plants.......and now I am in need to some sort of plant...but where, and what...and then it hit me TERRARIUMS!  I have always had a fascination with Gulliver's Travels since I was a child...a world in miniature and it has certainly not left me. I suppose that's why Terrariums are so interesting to children as well. Creating a tiny world is just so fascinating, and if the sudden and huge intrest is any indication, I am not alone. If you want to see more, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/twigterrariums/
For instructions on how to make your own check this our http://www.ehow.com/video_9374_make-terrarium.html

Any container will do, there are even Terrarium lights and earrings, how clever!

You can purchase miniature people and scenes the same place model railroaders go to get the things for their layouts.

Christmas Open House Tour 2011- The Livingroom

Murphy-Claws

The Mantle

Keeping it simple this year, I have always loved my face cups which were free with a purchase of Baileys I recireved as an office gift 15 years ago. I finally came up with a way to use these funny, cheerful and amusing little  cups by combining them with regular Christmas cups available at most stores today. My favorite place for Christmas decorations is Home Goods. For me it's the happiest place on earth. :)

The Kitchen

I save favorite Christmas cards and frame them, changing them out every now and then for interest. See them Below:
they are from Cartolina  http://www.cartolina.com/. I love these cards for all seasons, they are so whimsical and fun.

I use an artificial tree and so the smell of evergreen is missing from my house. However in the last 2 years I have been adding a fresh wreath or 2.. in this case 4 to get evergreen scent into the house, and while it is nowhere near as strong as what a tree gives off, if I am in my kitchen I can smell it. HINT: if you boil evergreen in water you can get the fragrant scent all over the house.

The bedrooms
